The Bridge on the River Kwai – Thailand

In April 2002, I took a trip to Thailand and was awestruck by the stunning beauty of The Bridge on the River Kwai and its surroundings. During our visit, we had the opportunity to ride elephants in the river and also take a ride on the Dead Train. As the train carefully made its way across the creaking Wampo Viaduct, which runs alongside the River Kwae Noi, we were treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Overall, it was an incredible experience.

Following that, we visited a small circle of Thai cities, including Lopburi, Ayutthaya, and numerous exquisite temples. I immediately felt comfortable and at home in the area. It’s fascinating to note that Ayutthaya had a population of one million, making it the world’s largest city by 1700.

During the third week of our trip, we spent our time in Bangkok, the capital and most populous city of Thailand. The city was nothing short of astonishing and exceeded all expectations.
